Chalmette Track Club "Run With Fast Friends"
|

Weather: 58 degrees, 50%, WNW5-NE17 m.p.h. Local events have been having the bad
luck (?) of getting scheduled the same day as other favorites and end up making people
choose between them (especially if they have FREE BEER and ours doesn't!) Thanks
to the "good ole boys" CTC only has 4 possible choices per month compared to any
day in other parishes. Welcome to St.Bernard politics and tunnel vision! Maybe if we
called it a march instead of a race we could have it any day too, PC or bs? This may've
been the first 4 lap two miler on pavement ever staged here. It worked out good with
the slower ones leaving the inside lane for the faster runners. The course was beautiful
after last weeks rough and irregular pavement. Several age groups again had some great
times and strong competition. Again, some people have no idea what their time really
was so they just picked any number that came to their minds. The D.J. provided good
music that could also be heard while running. Lots of Gatorade, water, soft drinks,
Chicken Nuggets, king cakes, cheese and macs, candy, fruit, etc. for all may a great
after race treat. CTC attendance was over 50% but lots of regulars were noticeably
missing. With over 300 members, 28 showing up to support an event is not much to be
proud of. Hopefully the groups putting on events will do their part to get their own
people to show up to. With a school as big as Nunez and filled with young people more
should come out and participate and show some school spirit while helping a worthy
cause.
